Lime: A Versatile and Eco-Friendly Solution

Sustainability Mixed with Art by Decora

Green

Our formulations combining tradition with technology, are 99% natural, do not contain VOC, do not produce nor release toxic or harmful substances into the environment or for mankind.

Ecological

Recycled materials, such as marble dust and sawdust, are regularly employed. The fuel used for baking the pebbles in the kiln consists of wood powder obtained from carpentries leftovers.

Reversible

Are made from mineral raw materials fully recyclable.

The Production cycle of seasoned lime

The difference starts from the process

Lime is made from river pebbles, very rich in calcium carbonate (99.9% pure). Just as in ancient times, wood is the fuel used for backing the pebbles inside the kiln. The dust is blown into the oven and burns without using gas, petroleum, coal or electricity.

Benefits of Lime

Lime is a sustainable material known for its natural properties.

Healthy

Antibacterial

Lime is hostile to the survival of pathogenic microorganisms cause of infections, and allergic reactions.

Highly Breathable

Low resistance to vapor diffusion and high permeability.

Dehumidifying

Thanks to its high porosity lime has a great capacity to absorb the water present in the walls and resist to alkaline salts.

Insulating

Its high microporosity confers to the lime both thermal and acoustic insulating properties.

Safe

Its high microporosity confers to the lime both thermal and acoustic insulating properties.

Anti-Mold

The high alkalinity of lime (pH> 12.5) guarantees aggression to molds and bacteria in indoor environments.

Versatile

Ductile

Lime based products have high workability and high filling power.

Stable

Lime based products are stable over time.

Durable

Thanks to a slow natural process that last for about 6 months after application, lime absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and improve the mechanical resistances and the functional qualities of the coating.

Compatible

They have high compatibility with the materials of the past, to make them ideal for the restoration of historical buildings.

“At Decora, we fuse art and sustainability, using lime to craft timeless, eco-friendly designs for a greener planet.”
